JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mar. 27, 2012– Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced plans today to locate a new fulfillment center in Jeffersonville, Indiana, creating up to 1,050 new jobs by 2015 and approximately $150 million in investment in the state.
“This is Amazon’s fifth Indiana facility, and the company is employing thousands of Hoosiers. We’re grateful for every one of those jobs,” said Governor Mitch Daniels. “These facilities will serve customers across the country, further cementing Indiana’s position as the country’s logistics capital.”
The Jeffersonville facility will be Amazon’s fifth fulfillment center in Indiana, bringing its total footprint in the state to more than 4 million square feet. Amazon currently operates facilities inIndianapolis, Whitestown and Plainfield.

The Seattle-based company expects to open the new facility this fall.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Amazon.com.indc LLC up to$2,000,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $300,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. Also, the IEDC and theIndiana Department of Transportation will allocate funds to improve Cox Road. River Ridge Development Authority has approved additional property tax abatement through the enterprise zone and will support infrastructure improvements.

The announcement of Amazon’s decision to locate its newest facility in the southeast Indianacity adds to the state’s growing transportation and distribution industry. Indiana is home to more than 4,700 miles of mainline rail track, three international airports and more than 11,000 total highway miles. Each year, more than 1.1 billion tons of freight travel through Indiana, making it the fifth busiest state for commercial freight traffic in the nation.
MIDDLETOWN, Del. (Feb. 14, 2012) – Amazon.com, Inc. today announced plans to invest $90 million to open a new 1 million‐square‐foot fulfillment center in Middletown. The plan was finalized late Friday after the company’s real estate developer settled on the land, located on Classic Drive near Levels Road. Amazon will create more than 850 full‐time jobs at the new center.

The Middletown facility will be Amazon’s second fulfillment center in Delaware. Amazon opened its first fulfillment center on the East Coast in New Castle in 1997. The company currently employs hundreds of full‐time workers at the 200,000 square‐foot facility.

In December, the Delaware Economic Development Office awarded the company $3.47 million from the Delaware Strategic Fund to support the expansion. Of which, $2.12 million will help create new jobs at the site. As part of the agreement, jobs at the new center will be in addition to the existing Delaware employment. The fund will also contribute to the company’s infrastructure investment, equal to 3 percent of the total capital expenditures, or a maximum of $1.35 million.
A separate grant for up to $4 million from the Delaware New Jobs Infrastructure Fund will be used to build extensions of public roads to serve the project, improve traffic flow and provide access to additional properties for future economic development.
The Infrastructure Fund was established in the fiscal year 2012 Bond Bill to provide economic assistance for renovation, construction or improvements to roads, utilities and related infrastructure in order to attract new businesses to Delaware, or for the expansion of existing Delaware businesses that would create a significant number of direct, permanent, quality, full‐time jobs.

The company will invest $85 million and create more than 1,000 jobs in Chesterfield County, and invest $50 million in Dinwiddie County, creating more than 350 jobs.

NDIANAPOLIS, Jul 06, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN today announced plans to open an approximately 900,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Plainfield, Indiana. Amazon will create hundreds of full-time and seasonal jobs at the facility this year.
The Plainfield facility will be Amazon’s fourth fulfillment center in Indiana, bringing its total footprint in the state to more than 3 million square feet.
